Gerald Rosales comes from a famous golfing family in the Philippines as his sister is US LPGA Tour star Jennifer. The pair have long been two of the most talented golfers from their country and with time on their side much is still expected of them.

Gerald has always impressed when he has travelled to play overseas but the tournament where he boasts the most success is his national Open.

He has won the Philippine Open once and finished outright second twice.

His victory came in 2000, just a year after turning professional, while he also came close again in 2005 and 2007. Jennifer, who he keeps in touch with regularly as a source of inspiration, actually caddied for him when he claimed the title.

The same year that he won the Philippine Open he also nearly triumphed in the Singapore Open. He came third in that event to help launch his professional career in emphatic fashion.

Gerald, who has regularly represented his country in the World Cup, enjoyed a brilliant amateur career.

He was a two-time individual gold medalist in the Southeast Asian Games, in 1997 and 1999, while he also won a silver medal in the Asian Games in 1998, in both the team and individual categories.

He also tasted victory in both the Philippine and Singapore Amateur Championships.
